Kent Klee

I have known Kent, who is a staple in the Fort Wayne music Scene now for decades… I have recorded him on numerous occasions, and see him often at work at Sweetwater Sound, Where he is an instructor of percussion at Sweetwater Academy. I was delighted that he would contribute to One Love, and feel that his understated, groove oriented playing was the perfect approach for this arrangement.

Here is Ken’t bio from Sweetwater Academy:

Kent Klee is an award winning composer, arranger, performer, and educator. He attended the University of North Texas where he studied with legendary Jazz drummer Ed Soph. He graduated from IPFW with a bachelor degree in Music Performance. Kent completed his post Graduate work with a master’s degree in Music Performance from Ball State University. He has taught at both the University of Notre Dame and Ball State University, and he has been the director of percussion at Homestead High School for 22 years.

As a composer/arranger and teacher, Kent has won five Indiana Marching Band State Championships, and one W.G.I. National Championship. He has taught percussion at over 40 high school band programs, and has taught hundreds of private students.

Kent has performed with several Grammy award-winning artists, and has toured with several regional acts. You can find him on over 70 recordings released throughout the Midwest. He currently performs with the Jim Steel Trio, the Kent Klee Quartet, The New Millennium Big Band, and the Fort Wayne-based rock/pop band Fawn Liebowitz.
